Hi There;
I am reading the book, "The Data Warehose toolkit by Ralph Kimball and Margy Ross, Third Edition" and I have encountered a sentence below. Could you explain the sentence? I know fact table and dimension table, however, descriptive attribute is not clear in my mind.

Any descriptive attribute that takes on a single value in the presence of a fact table measurement event is a good candidate to be added to an existing dimension or be its own dimension.

Thanks in advance.

Attributes are columns in a dimension table and they are 'descriptive', meaning they describe the context of the fact event. So, any attribute is a 'descriptive attribute'.

All it is saying is attributes should be placed in dimension tables.
