Maintaining Reference Tables
I'm looking for some feedback regarding what tools others are using to maintain data in Data Warehouse specific reference tables.
These tables are typically used to provide cross reference or hierarchical definitions for the source data during ETL processing.
My previous company developed web pages for maintaining these special purpose tables that were stored in the staging area of the Data Warehouse.
My current company has been using Excel spreadsheets to store and maintain these tables, but we want to get away from this practice.
Informatica in it's latest version of PowerCenter has this functionality, called Reference Table Manager, but this first version seems limited in terms of user friendliness (doesn't appear to have capability for pull down lists of values for data entry.)
Information on other approaches would be appreciated.

Re: Maintaining Reference Tables
I've used Access in the past. You can link directly to the database tables and throw together simple applications very quickly. It's not 'industrial strength', but certainly serviceable for this type of application.
