Model Policies and Coverages Empty Model Policies and Coverages

Post  vermarajiv Thu Jan 28, 2010 10:12 pm

Hi all,
Need your help in modeling this. I am in insurance company. It has customers and customers can have more than one policies. Every policies have multiple versions because of renewals or some other change. Every version has 4 or 5 or more coverages with premiums. I can see that Customers and Policy will be dimensions and fctPolicyVersion could be a fact table. Will you keep a separate fact table for coverages and relate it to fctPolicyVersion ? Can two facts be related like this ?

Thanks for all your help.

I would go with separate coverage fact table. (A separate fact table is a need if there are attributes and metrics specific to coverages.)
