Main dimension and profile dimension
Hi !
Is it ok to have a mini dimension and a main dimension without using a factless facttable between them to catch attribute changes occurring outside business/fact events ? Ie include the key for mini dim in the main dim which holds from/to dates.

Missing / overlook something ?
To clarify, will we be missing/overlook something by doing it this way ?
The volume in the main dimension and mini dimension is not to big, and the frequency of changes in the mini dimension is not high.
Opinions most welcome !
Regards Ole

Re: Main dimension and profile dimension
Then why do you need a mini dimension in first place? The tradeoff for mini dimension is to control the size of big and fast growing main dimension for the price of complicating the relationship by fact table or snowflaked outrigger.Oleole wrote:The volume in the main dimension and mini dimension is not to big, and the frequency of changes in the mini dimension is not high.
