Inventory facts and production facts
Hi,
Considering they share the same dimensions, is it possible to put inventory facts and production facts in the same fact table ?
For example for a reseller :
- Number of items in stock.
- Number of item sold.
Thanks

Re: Inventory facts and production facts
Maybe in an aggregation, but I would not capture the data that way. Inventory and production are independent processes that occur at different times for different reasons. Capture each process independently into a star schema - each in their own fact table. Each fact would have its own load process, dimensions may be different, and it would be designed for the process it was capturing (timing, content, etc...). After facts have been loaded you could aggregate the facts to combine inventory and production information.
