Separate schema for aggregates?
We have 8 data marts and we are now developing enterprise data warehouse (EDW). We have a separate schema for each subject area, ex. HR data mart fact, dimension and aggregate tables are in HR_OWN, Finance in FINANCE_OWN etc. Now that we are developing EDW, should we create a separate schema for aggregate tables from all subject area data marts, say AGG_OWN? How it is typically done in an EDW environment having multiple subjcet areas - industry best practices?
What are the advantages & disadvantages of having central schema for aggregates versus continue to store them in same schema along with fact tables?
Thanks in advance for taking time to read this post & offer your advice.
