Outrigger dimensions in Facts
I don't know if the topic title properly describes my question, but here it goes.
Suppose I have a Customer dimension that reasonably large, say 50 Million rows. Suppose i have several fact tables that are much smaller in row count, usually several hundred thousand rows.
We rarely produce reports that actually report customer-level data, it is almost all group ups of demographic and geographic attributes. Ie. Customer State, Income Range, Education level, etc.
is there a reason why we would not include these customer demographics keys directly in the fact tables? Performance isn't much of an issue, this is more for user convenience, someone is asking for it, and I don't have a good reason not to do it right now.
Thoughts?

Demographics change. Updating one dimension row makes more sense than update 1000's of fact rows.
