Direct Update to Dimensional Tables in a Independent Data Mart

I am a little new to this type of design of Data Mart.
I am creating a DATA MART in a star schema design. I will having data feed that will be staged and etl into the Data Mart which is normal process but the client would like to update some of the dimensional directly. Those dimension would be in a admin screen type to access for update.
Have anyone heard this type a design or practice and is this ok?

It is unusual. First, I would find out what and why. Are they trying to 'fix' a problem in the wrong place or are they simply providing additional attributes that are not available anywhere else?

If you do permit it, separate what can be maintained in this manner from what is coming from the source system. If it means keeping two versions of the same attribute, so be it.

I've seen it where the business wants to add a description to a new code value. The process worked well enough with no problems. Normally, the particular values being updated were not in the normal ETL process. Otherwise, they'll just get overwritten.

They would like more of real-time on specific areas of the data mart instead of waiting for the nightly batches to run to push the data to the Mart.
The fact tables is at a daily transactional level. The client wants to updates the records multiples time during the day...

would Like to do something like adding/updating a person name and
changing a person work schedule at daily level.
