scd2 effective date, end date data type Empty scd2 effective date, end date data type

hi I am new in data warehouse, I am creating a SCD2 dimension and it updates daily. just want to know the data format for effective date, end date on that table. are they should be date format? or character format? or put a number there reference from the calender_date confirm dimension table?

It is usually a date/timestamp type.
