Tools and Components for Microsoft's SQL Server Integration Services
I am coordinating the SSIS Community Tasks and Components project over at CodePlex that is intended to catalog third-party add-ins and tools for Microsoft's extensible ETL product.
The focus of the project is to highlight the open-source tools that are available - in order to provide a good library of resources for those of us that may want to extend SSIS's capabilities. The project also provides a brief listing of free (but not open-source) and commercially available tools for SSIS. There are currently over 30 Connection Managers, Tasks, Sources, Transforms, and Destinations catalogued.
I, for one, was disappointed by Microsoft's less than stellar "SCD Wizard" component in Integration Services, so I used some of the resources now shown in this project to help me code my own open-source alternative. (And as stated by the Moderator - that component is NOT endorsed, recommended, or approved by the Kimball Group!)

- If you are a user of SSIS, you may find some tools that can replace complex hand-built collections of Data Flow transforms with one step.
- If you know of some tools for SSIS, please leave a comment on the project so I can add it to the catalog.
- If you are looking to perform something in SSIS that doesn't currently seem possible, even after reviewing the tools on the site, code your own using the examples provided.

Here is a link for a tool that allows you to comprehensively log a DTS/SSIS package:
http://www.codeplex.com/DTLoggedExec
One of my biggest gripes with respect to the Microsoft BI platform is the lack of a comprensive metadata architecture. Here is a link for an application that tries to overcome some of those short comings:
