about Business Intelligance in data warehousing
Business Intelligence (BI) refers to skills, processes, technologies, applications and practices used to support decision making.
BI technologies provide historical, current, and predictive views of business operations. Common functions of Business Intelligence technologies are reporting, OLAP, analytics, data mining, business performance management, benchmarking, text mining, and predictive analytics.
Business Intelligence often aims to support better business decision-making.[1] Thus a BI system can be called a decision support system (DSS).[2]

Re: about Business Intelligance in data warehousing
Ok. Actually, the old term used to be Decision Support Systems (late 80's, early 90's). Business Intelligence became the more popular term because it encompasses a wider scope of activities (i.e. it is vague) and sounds better in marketing brochures.
Personally, I separate Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence as back-end and front-end activities. You can implement Business Intelligence solutions without Data Warehousing, but if you want to take full advantage of an integrated enterprise-wide BI solution, implementing a data warehouse is the only way to go.
