Dimensional Model for Online Job Portal
This is with respect to designing a warehouse for Online Job Portal. The brief business environment is as given below
User has many versions of “Curriculum Vitae” on the site
Corporate posts Job
Candidates apply to the posed job
1.Users are created on Job portal. There are two types of user
a. Job Seekers - Candidates
b.Job Providers – Corporate
2.Each Curriculum Vitae has multiple:-
a. Desired Role: Project Manager, Project Lead
b. Applicable Functional Areas: Shipping, Supply Chain
c. Preferred Location: Boston, New York, Ohio
User can change attributes of Curriculum Vitae at any point like a adding a new preferred location or adding a new Functional area.
3. Corporate post job.
4. Each Job has multiple fulfillment criteria
a. Role: Project Manager, Supervisor
b. Job Location: Boston, Bejing, Tokyo
c. Education: Undergraduate, Diploma in Science
5. Applicants apply for a job online.
The questions which are usually asked are:-
1. No of applications per day.
2. Number of candidates for each job criteria.
3. No of applications which do not meet job criteria
4. Avg. number of applications per user
5. Avg. number of applications per “Curriculum Vitae”
I read the book The Data warehouse Toolkit by Ralph Kimball but could find a definitive answer solution. I thought of using Bridge tables and keeping all combinations of Roles, Locations, Education, and Functional area. But after some calculation I find the number of combinations is huge. Please help and suggest some options
Thanks in advance.

Re: Dimensional Model for Online Job Portal
The number of combinations you calculate and the number of combinations that actually exist are two different things. The latter is a much, much smaller number... by many orders of magnitude.
Wither you need to create unique groups or simply have an associative entity is a matter of the nature of the data and the kinds of analysis you want to do.
