How to model target KPI Values in a Data Mart
The project I am working on has a requirement to report on actuals against targets. An example might be the number of sales calls made by a sales rep during the month for a specific customer compared to the targets set for that customer.
Is this effectively a new Fact table containing targets joined to the actuals through same dimension keys, but the major difference is that this table is a different grain.
The requirement would be to report on the actuals vs target each day and then at the end of the month product management monthly reports.
Any advice on best practice for this would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, store targets in a different fact table and join on conformed dimensions.
