Data Warehouse for survey data
Hi All,
Working with a company which uses Salesforce.com heavily. They have a large number of custom fields, and great volatility in them - frequently adding and deleting them when they cease being relevant (They collect survey data for their clients). There are core fields, and the dynamic (custom) ones are more-or-less the facts of the DW (a factless fact table). My intention is to create dimensions for both questions and responses, so that I can easily group same questions, and also get some efficiency when responses are either numeric of selected values only (as opposed to unstructured text). Does anyone have any thoughts on this??? This is quite different from whaat we normally work on.
Thanks
Jim

Have a look at Kimball's dimensional modelling book page 197.

Re: Data Warehouse for survey data
Perfect. Thanks - I must have missed it when reading through. Now all I have to do is deal with the volatile/changeable nature of the questions and I'm all set!
Thanks
