Sort Holiday in date Dimension
I have a Date Dimension that lists US Holidays - how will I go about sorting the Holidays when users displays the data in the Cube?
Our US Holiday is string field and listed as an attribute not in a hierarchy.
Basically I would like to be able to see sales by year and holidays - when I do it it will display by either a key or name.
Thank you.
Adrian

Re: Sort Holiday in date Dimension
I you just want chronology, sort by the date first (or earliest date if it is a period). Otherwise you would need to add some sort of sequence attribute to the dimension.

It is just chronology - but how will I sort by the date though? When I look at the attribute I can only sort by Key, Name etc
None of those will do it I think.

Re: Sort Holiday in date Dimension
Thank you again for your help. It does have a date but I cannot figure out how to do that within the cube.
Usually most of the hierarchy and attributes I can sort them by key and that will do it - this particular attribute does not have a key ( I think).

Re: Sort Holiday in date Dimension
I'm not a 'cube' guy, but can't you include the date in the cube and include the holiday description as part of the same dimension? There may also be a way to hide the date. The tools I have used are all ROLAP based and doing stuff like that is fairly simple. Some allow you to specify a sort order by providing a list of values in the desired sequence... your cube may have similar capabilities... just give it the list of holiday names in the order you would like to see them presented.
Re: Sort Holiday in date Dimension
That is how I have it setup but for some reason it errors out when attributes are defined. Key column for the Holiday Attribute is the column in the table called Holiday; if I try to select the Key Column as the Date and then the Named Column as the Us Holiday, it will list all the days in the Year.
