Which Book? (Kindle Book issues) Empty Which Book? (Kindle Book issues)

Perhaps you can help me out a little. I could use some direction. I'm reading the Lifecycle Toolkit. I'm completely new to this topic. I think it is the first edition, copyright 1998. My professor gave it to me because i originally bought the wrong book. I REALLY LIKE THE BOOK It is EASY TO READ, but...

1) Where are we expected to start with this series? I think i read a post that asked the same question and it was recommended that we start with this book (maybe 2nd edition). I'm reading first edition and it keep referring to another book. I'm also frustrated because the book chooses NOT to go over certain concepts (Say the Slowly changing dimension) because well you should have read a previous book.  Maybe this was addressed in the 2nd edition.

2) Are there links or something that explain these concepts in more detail?

3) i want to get the second edition (which i think is the latest), but the Kindle version i hear is horrible. The Publisher responded to an Amazon posting about the issue but as of this year, it seems the problem has not been corrected. I also contacted the publisher because the rep said they were going to fix the issue but I never heard back from them.

Lifecycle Toolkit is focused on the process (project management, justification, applicability) of implementing a data warehouse, while Data Warehouse Toolkit (now in a 3rd edition) focuses on the mechanics of building one. The latter goes into great detail on modeling and implementing the database.

Thanks these book names are way too similar and the purpose and intro materials aren't very clear. Its quite confusing.
