Halfway through the Data Warehouse Toolkit 3rd Edition book. Should I get the other books as well?
Hi there,
I am new to the Kimball methodology.
I am only halfway through chapter 6 Order management of the Data Warehouse Toolkit 3rd Edition book.
I have bought the kindle and the paperback version because I find a lot of value in them.
Should I get the other books as well?
I have built a web application using MySQL and PHP for enterprise client. As time goes by, it seems like their needs are becoming more and more like a data warehouse hence I picked up the Data Warehouse Toolkit book.
The more I read it, the more I realized I have a lot to learn in this area.
My only hesitation to getting the ETL and Lifecycle books are:
a) they seem more dated compared to the Dimensional modeling book which was released in 2013.
b) I am still taking quite a lot of time to read through the Dimensional modeling book since it is so packed of information.
Please advise.

The Lifecycle book is primarily about project approach and management. Not sure how that can become too 'outdated'. I have not seen the ETL book.

Got it. Are you a staff member of the Kimball Group, ngalemmo?

Take a look at our bookshelf, linked here.
I particularly recommend "Star Schema The Complete Reference", by Christopher Adamson; and "Agile Data Warehouse Design", by Corr & Stagnitto.
