Push or Pull into the Data Warehouse
Hello
I have been looking for references to best practices related to which part of the system is responsible for loading the data warehouse. In the past I added to the staging database the SQL stored procedures for transforming the source data and loading the warehouse. As such, the staging database would push updates to the data warehouse database. It's also easy enough to have these scripts as part of the data warehouse database, and have them pull and transform data from the staging database.
Is one approach better than the other? Are there any best practice that advise on either approach?
Thanks.
