Regular, full-time, 12-month position
Pomona College is looking for a Data Warehouse Analyst who can work closely with clients and the Information Systems team. Under the direction of the Director of Information Services, the Data Warehouse Analyst will work in a team environment to implement and support business intelligence solutions and apply expertise in all stages of data warehousing. The Data Warehouse Analyst will investigate and analyze the feasibility of project requirements, develop data warehouse specifications, analyze needs, design, write and test dimensional models, and be responsible for the lifecycle management of the College’s Data Warehouse. This position will develop techniques to integrate and transform data effectively on a continuing basis and monitor the data warehouse on a daily basis to ensure nightly population processes. This position will also use data mappings, native languages and/or ETL tools, specify extract process of data from operational systems, integrate data appropriate for the data warehouse, work with developers and subject matter experts to cleanse, transform, aggregate and summarize data as needed to populate the College’s data warehouse, and work with source system functional owners and developers to identify required data and complete source to target maps. The Data Warehouse Analyst must be able to successfully complete and identify errors, sources of data, and work with subject matter experts to effectively standardize the data content.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in MIS or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience with Data Warehouse design and implementation, data warehousing life cycle and dimensional modeling; Advanced Structured Query Language (SQL) programming experience including DTS and ETL; solid data warehouse skills and knowledge of data warehouse methodologies; solid business analyst skills; ability to complete complex analysis, design & programming projects; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to multi-task and set task prioritizations. A minimum of 2 years of experience with SQL Server (or comparable database system), BIDS, SSIS and SSAS is preferred. Experience with Cognos, Tableau or comparable reporting system is preferred. Experience at an academic institution is preferred. Candidate must deploy professional skills in data warehousing, Cognos and Tableau (or comparable system), and language (SQL) programming, in collaboration with colleagues, to best promote the College’s strategic interests. Must be able to complete complex analysis, designs & programming projects according to schedule. Must be able to work with a diverse group of people within a higher educational setting, exhibiting behaviors and attitudes aligned with the Value Statement of the ITS department. Must be able to participate in multiple, concurrent mission-essential projects. Must be able to think and act quickly, coming up with solutions on the fly and operate well in a fast-paced environment.
